McMaster University offers a variety of options for employees as they welcome new additions to their families. Details for MUFA, Full-time Clinical Faculty (including Clinical Scholars), and TMG can be found in the policies below. Information about the Employment Standards Act provision for pregnancy and parental leave can be found here.

General Notification Procedures

  • Employees applying for Pregnancy or Parental Leave must complete a Request For Leave of Absence Form.  
  • This form must be signed by the employee and the department head and forwarded to the correct Area Human Resources Office for final approval. 
  • Leaves should start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday coinciding with Employment Insurance pay schedules.
  • Pregnancy and Parental leave requests are confirmed in writing by your Area Human Resources office.

Adding your new family member!

Congratulations!  Now that you've welcomed a new member into your family be sure to add them to your McMaster benefit plan.

Family additions are made by completing an Extended Health & Dental Positive Enrolment Form and returning the original to your Area Human Resources Office.  Please note that this form will replace any previous information; therefore all eligible dependents must be listed.
