U.S. National Watermelon Queen Savannah Christensen knows a lot about picking out the perfect watermelon.

As she sifted through the display of watermelons at Colemans at the Gardens in Corner Brook on Thursday afternoon she was looking for one that had some yellow on it, that’s the field spot, the area where the melon would have been on the ground.

Christensen wrapped up her tour of Colemans stores in the province with visits to stores in Corner Brook and Deer Lake on Thursday. It was her second visit to the province as she visited in July 2017 while serving as Florida State Watermelon Queen.

Christensen is from Arcadia Florida. Colemans and its partner stores have been hosting visits from national and state watermelon queens since 2007.
