A Corner Brook man has entered guilty pleas to four sex-related offences against him.
Jonathan Francis Brake, 36, entered the pleas when he appeared on seven charges in provincial court in Corner Brook on Wednesday morning.
The charges to which he entered pleas included sexual assault, unlawfully luring a child under the age of 16 by means of a computer system for the purpose of facilitating an offence involving that young person, unlawfully making sexually explicit material available to a child under the age of 16 and using telecommunications as a means to arrange the commission of a sexual offence against a child under the age of 16.
The three other charges, including another count of internet luring and counts of sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching, were withdrawn by Crown attorney Lori St. Croix, pending conditions on the four other charges.
All of the offences involve the same victim and occurred in western Newfoundland between January and May of 2018.
Brake’s lawyer, Amber Haighway, requested a pre-sentence report be prepared to help the court determine an appropriate punishment for Brake. The sentencing hearing has been set for Sept. 5.
